Chiswick Mall, W6
Following the refurbishment of this Victorian Townhouse in the Chiswick Mall Conservation Area, the client wanted to complete the job and renovate both the front and rear gardens. The brief for the front garden was to make an inviting entrance with structure but not too much formality. The front garden is visible to the many passers-by on the River Walk and has been designed to be an inviting entrance but also to create a beautiful view out of the dinning room.
Retaining the existing yorkstone path to the gate, we created large flower beds lined with reclaimed London yellows and framed a mossy old water urn with cotswold stone chips and bushy topiary balls. The planting gives year round interest with a cool colour palette of spring bulbs, summer roses, architectural plants and lush evergreen ferns.
In the back garden the brief was to retain an Olive tree planted by the owners when they first moved in and create a relaxing space for dinning and R & R in the sunny corner of the north facing yard. We created a raised deck using the existing weathered old boards, london stock bricks to match the rear extension and new flower beds to enclose the sofa area. The BBQ station is built into a sold cast concrete stand and connected to mains gas.
Key Plants; Lavandula Hidcote, Kiftsgate Rose, Verbena Bonarensis, Gaura lindheimeri, Starwort and Salvias.
